Welcome to the San Diego Floating Lab!

We are a San Diego small business that provides marine-based field trips to students from kindergarten through college. This is a hands-on ocean experience that students never forget. Whether you are a greenhorn or a seasoned salty mariner, there is always something to be learned on this voyage.

Our Program

Teachers, parents, and school administrators in San Diego and its outlying suburbs can reserve through the San Diego County Office of Education, Outdoor Education office. Trips run November–May, Monday–Friday: AM, PM, or Twilight.

Marine Science Floating Lab

The Voyager program invites students to learn more about marine science on a four-hour journey on the Pacific Ocean. Students observe and examine sea creatures collected in mud samples and trawling nets, and are taught to measure various elements of oceanography — including tides, wind speed, and water clarity.*

* Evening trips omit water color and clarity sampling, but include a lesson on bio-luminescence.
